Swaziland achieves 41% drop in new HIV infections

THE European Union has declared a more than 50% drop in new HIV infections in 25 low and middle income countries including Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Swaziland having achieved 41% reduction among others.
EU Charge d’ Affaires to Swaziland, Amadou Traroe said during the welcoming cocktail for regional delegates attending the 2nd regional Project Steering Committee for the EU-joint UNAIDS/UNFPA Regional Project on Sexual Reproductive Health and HIV Linkages, the aim of the project is to strengthen the fight against HIV/AIDS by integrating it in the implementation of SRH policies.
Minister of Economic Planning and Development, Prince Hlangusemphi officiated in the official welcoming of the delegates, and also present was UNFPA Sub-regional Director, Edwin Huizing, UN Resident Coordinator Swaziland, Israel Dessalagne, Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Mduduzi ‘Small Joe’ Dlamini, Director of Health Services, Simon Zwane, and Economic Planning PS, Bertram Stewart.
