Sub-Saharan African Stocks: Flour Mills, Mauritius Union

Dec. 17 (Bloomberg) -- The Nigerian Stock Exchange’s All- Share Index gained, advancing 81.34, or 0.4 percent, to 20,640.03.

Mauritius’ SEMDEX Index fell 0.3 percent to 1,647.43, Kenya’s All-Share Index added 0.1 percent to 56.89, and Namibia’s FTSE/Namibia Overall Index rose 0.2 percent at 768.24. The following shares rose or fell in sub-Saharan Africa, excluding South Africa. Stock symbols are in parentheses.

Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc (FLOURMIL NL) gained for a third day after it said first-half profit doubled to 4.89 billion naira ($36.6 million). The stock rose 1.80 naira, or 5 percent, to 37.99 naira in Lagos.

Mauritius Union Assurance Co. (MUA MP), an insurer operating on the Indian Ocean island nation, climbed for a third day after saying it would increase its stake in National Mutual Fund to 98.57 percent on Dec. 31. The stock climbed 2 Mauritian rupees, or 2.3 percent.

Sasini Ltd. (STCL KN), a Kenyan tea and coffee producer, climbed for a fourth day after coffee prices surged in the last auction of the year. The stock gained 20 cents, or 2.8 percent, to 7.4 shillings.
