Angola's Longtime Ruler President Jose Dos Santos To Stand Down in 2017

Angola's President Jose Dos Santos to stand down in 2017 baccording to Angola state radio. Santos has been in power since 1979 and is one of Africa's longest-ruling leaders. The message stated that he will not stand for re-election at national polls due to be held next year.

Angola is Africa's second largest oil exporter after Nigeria.

Joao Lourenco, the defense minister and Vice President of the MPLA party, was  recently approved  as its flag bearer to succeed Dos Santos.
