Nana Akufo-Addo has been sworn in as Ghana's new President in an elaborate swearing-in ceremony in Ghana’s Capial City Accra.
Heads of state from across Africa, and thousands of guests and dignitaries gathered in Ghana to witness the inauguration. Nana 72, led the opposition New Patriotic Party in the December 7 election to defeat incumbent John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress.
Nana promised free high school education and more factories.
He also said he would reduce taxes to boost the economy, adding that Ghana was now "opened for business again" Akufo-Addo is the fifth president since the end of military rule in 1992.
Saturday's ceremony was also attended by all three former presidents of Ghana, John Rawlings, John Kufuor, and Mahama as well as former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. All 275 members of parliament were also sworn into office for the next four years.
