Which Country Owns Migingo Island in Lake Victoria?
Uganda and Kenya are currently feuding over the location of the Migingo Island, which is found in Lake Victoria. Both Uganda and Kenya claim the island is in their territory. Although the two countries agreed to a joint survey of the border to determine the location of the island with certainty, Uganda's President Museveni recently shocked participants at the Smart Partnership national dialogue in Kampala by saying that Migingo Island is in Kenya.
The President while blaming colonialists for making borders “carelessly”, said that Migingo is located in Kenya while the western shore of the island is located in Uganda.
Museveni later issued a statement clarifying that he was referring to other islands in Lake Victoria which are almost shared by the two countries. He says the ownership of Migingo Island will be cleared through dialogue between Uganda and Kenya who have agreed to jointly resurvey the borders at the Island.
Kenya's leader Mwai Kibaki has on the other hand been accused by Kenyans for sleeping on the job and for failing to protect Kenyan territory as President and Commander in Chief. Kenyans in slums on the outskirts of Nairobi,  have made sure the issue is higlighted, by uprooting the Kenya Uganda railway which Uganda relys on heavily for it's imports. Uganda was as a result forced to pull down its flag from the Island. Kenyans have also accused Uganda soldier of mistreating them on the island which they consider theirs.

I think Kenya owns it. Just from reading about it in the news, where Kenyan officials came to some meeting with maps and historical documents as evidence, while the Ugandan officials didn't bring anything show there's something fishy about the Ugandan side.
