Will Obama's Trip to Ghana Be of Any Benefit to Africa?
Obama's friday trip to Ghana, will be his first visit as president to sub-Saharan Africa. There's been questions as to why he will not visit his late father's home country, Kenya. He recently criticized Kenya in an interview, and explained why he's instead visiting Ghana on this trip.
He said that part of the reason, was because Ghana had now undergone a couple of successful elections in which power was transferred peacefully, even a very close elections. This is in contrast to Kenya with had an ugly election dispute after rigged elections. He was also concerned with how the political parties in kenya don't seem to be moving towards a permanent reconciliation that would allow the country to move forward. President Obama further pointed that there is a direct correlation between governance and prosperity.

What does Africa have to benefit from his upcoming trip? Should President Obama have included several of the most important african countries like Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya in his itenerary?

I don't think Obama's doing himself any good by running away from Africas problems. Ghanas doing ok but is by no chance the most succesful African state.

Very little. Aid and handouts will never solve Africas problems.
