U.S. Mission Uganda: Due to Security Concerns, We Advise U.S. Citizens Not Attend the Nyege Nyege Festival in Jinja From November 9-12, 2023.

 Event: The U.S. Embassy is directing its staff to not attend the Nyege Nyege festival in Jinja from November 9-12, 2023. Due to security concerns, we advise U.S. citizens not attend the festival. U.S. citizens should also read our most recent Security Alert from November 6.

 

U.S. citizens should:

 

Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists.
Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas.
Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter and visit travel.state.gov.
