BERLIN, 06 September 2021 / PRN Africa / -- A Federal Foreign Office spokesperson today (6 September) issued the following statement on developments in Guinea:

We are greatly concerned by developments in Guinea. We strongly condemn the attempt to seize power by armed violence.

Addressing those responsible for the coup, ECOWAS and the African Union have demanded in no uncertain terms the unconditional release of President Condé and other detainees and the immediate restoration of constitutional order. We support these demands by ECOWAS and the African Union and call on all involved to refrain from further violence.
