The Machame Gate which is located on the southern side of the mountain. 

Starting at the Machame Gate (5,718 ft or 1,748m) we will be climbing to Machame Camp (9,350 ft or 2,850m). This trek takes approximately 5-7 hours and is through the Tropical Rainforest Zone. 

The hike starts in lush rainforest leading upwards into the thinning forest, long grasses and giant heathers surrounding Machame Camp (3000m), the first campsite on the Machame Route. En route you will enjoy a picnic lunch.
