Playing at Luanda’s 11 de Novembro on Tuesday, the national team failed to make up for the 2-1 defeat of Saturday in Kinshasa, now standing five points from the group lead, with two rounds to go. Angola remain with four points but dropped to the third position, only ahead of Madagascar (two points), being left with having to scramble for the best two places within 13 groups in the qualifiers for the Afcon2017. The national team is now confronted with having to beat Madagascar at home and Central Africa Republic away to total 10 points and wish for an unlikely flop of DRC in the encounters with Madagascar and CAR.
In the qualifiers for the Afcon2017, Angola started with a 4-0 win over CAR, before drawing with Madagascar away.
