Mt Kilimanjaro Climb - 6 Day Rongai Route Offer Ended
The Rongai Route starts in Nalemoru, located at the remote, northern side of Kilimanjaro, near the Kenyan border. The hike begins in lush rainforest and continues through a true wilderness area towards the jagged Mawenzi Peak, then crosses the barren desert saddle, before summiting up Kibos eastern crater wall. The Rongai Route exits via Marangu Gate on the south-east side of Kilimanjaro. The climb via the Rongai Route is considered to be one of the easier climbs, because it is both gradual and steady. Day:1 Rongai Gate to Simba Camp

 After breakfast, you will be driven to the Rongai Gate (about 2.5 hours from Arusha) where you will meet your mountain crew and begin your climb. The first day's trek is a gradual ascent through the rainforest to Simba Camp (2,650 meters/8,694 feet). Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day:2 Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp

 Today's trek takes you through moorland and into the heather zone as you ascend towards Kikelewa Camp (3,600 meters/11,811 feet). This is a shorter day of hiking, allowing you to acclimatize to the altitude. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day:3 Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

The trail steepens as you hike towards Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330 meters/14,206 feet). This campsite offers stunning views of Mawenzi Peak, one of Kilimanjaro's three volcanic cones. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day:4 Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Camp

Today's trek is a gradual ascent across the Saddle, a high-altitude desert between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, to Kibo Camp (4,703 meters/15,430 feet). This is your base camp for the summit attempt. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day:5 Summit Attempt - Kibo Camp to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Camp

You will be woken up before midnight for a hot drink and a light snack before starting the final push to the summit. The trail is steep and rocky as you climb towards Gilman's Point (5,681 meters/18,638 feet), the rim of the crater. From here, it is a gradual hike along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters/19,341 feet), the highest point in Africa. You will have a few minutes to take photos and enjoy the stunning views before beginning the descent to Horombo Camp (3,720 meters/12,205 feet). This is the longest day of the climb, taking 12-15 hours in total. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day:6 Horombo Camp to Marangu Gate to Arusha

Today's descent takes you through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you will say goodbye to your mountain crew and receive your summit certificates. You will then be driven back to Arusha, arriving in the early evening. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
